About Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed
With over 20 years of excellence in eye care, Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed is a leading ophthalmologist and pioneer of modern eye surgeries in Hazara.
As the first refractive surgeon and pioneer of topical phaco surgery in the region, he has transformed thousands of lives with his surgical skill and compassionate care.
Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed earned his MBBS from Peshawar, followed by FCPS in Ophthalmology from CPSP.
With over 8 years of service as a District Ophthalmologist and extensive experience as a professor, he brings academic depth and clinical precision to every case.
He served as a Professor of Ophthalmology at Gajju Khan Medical College, Swabi, and currently teaches at Abbottabad International Medical College. Dr. Iftihar Ahmed also visits as a Refractive Surgeon at Amanat Eye Hospital Rawalpindi.
Since 2008, he has been running his own eye clinic Vision Plus Eye Care (VPEC) equipped with all modern diagnostic and surgical facilities.

My LASIK Journey from UK to Pakistan
As someone who travelled from the UK specifically for LASIK surgery, my experience at Vision Plus Eye Care Clinic in Pakistan was overall overwhelmingly, exceptionally positive, from start to finish.
The decision to undergo such a procedure abroad was significant, and I aimed for both quality care and cost-effectiveness.
Pre-Surgery Experience & Initial Consultations:
Booking & Communication: was easy, straightforward, and responses via email, WhatsApp were prompt and clear.
My initial assessment was on WhatsApp video call and then my visit to Pakistan.
Upon arrival, the initial consultations were very thorough and stress free.
The administrative staff were efficient and incredibly friendly and answering all my questions.
After my consultations and check-up, i met the doctor (Dr. Professor Iftikhar Ahmad), who even did my surgery.
He took his time explaining the different LASIK options, potential risks, and ensuring I was a suitable candidate.
The doctors were knowledgeable, experiencedand and reassuring.
My experience at the clinic was unexpected. The clinic itself was modern and well-maintained, with a calm and reassuring atmosphere.
At my surgery, i felt very comfortable and informed from the surgeon and staff. My surgeon, Pro Dr. [ IftikharAhmad ] was exceptionally skilled and instilled great confidence. The nursing staff were attentive and made sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure.
The procedure was unexpected as there was no discomfort for me in any way, and the LASIK procedure itself was surprisingly quick and virtually painless, just a sensation of pressure. The doctor continuously talked me through each step, which was very calming.
Post-Surgery, my vision improved rapidly.
And it took a few hours to get my best vision and got rid of my 👓.
They also provided clear instructions for eye drops and care and answered all my post-op concerns.
I also had a post-operative check-up, which was great as I was no longer using my glasses, and I’m thrilled with the results.
Even after returning to the UK, I felt supported. They provided contact details for any questions I might have, though I haven’t needed to use them.
The cost of the entire procedure, including consultations and follow-ups, was significantly less than comparable services in the UK, offering excellent value for money.
All costs were clearly outlined upfront, with no hidden fees.
The professionalism of the medical team, the advanced equipment, and the affordability were definite strengths for me.
I would absolutely recommend ( Vision Plus Eye Care Clinic ) to anyone considering LASIK, especially those travelling from abroad. It was a life-changing experience and well worth the journey.
